Mission & VisionThe Downtown Bryan Association (DBA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create, cultivate, and showcase the commerce, culture, and community of the downtown district by “preserving the past and building a vibrant future”. Through its leadership and partnership activities, the DBA supports the economic growth and physical appeal of Downtown Bryan, while constantly looking for opportunities for improvement and growth within the community. The DBA was created in 2008 and has plans to expand in the near future.
So what does the DBA do?
The Downtown Bryan Association is responsible for operating the DBA Office, the Downtown Bryan Visitor’s Center, and The Queen Theatre. We coordinate over 30 events a year for the purpose of bringing in customers to shop at local businesses. The DBA also offers an Association Merchant Membership to businesses who reside in the Downtown Bryan boundaries. The Merchant Membership Program ensures that merchants will receive information about Downtown Bryan events and activities, have the DBA staff act as a liaison between them and the City of Bryan, and have access to resources through the DBA for small business owners. Our members include Downtown Bryan property owners, merchants, and professionals who call Historic Downtown Bryan their home.
So what's special about the DBA?
The Downtown Bryan association is a non-profit organization, but it receives about 90% of its funding from the City of Bryan. This means that its employees answer to a board of directors, as well as the city council and other city representatives. We also receive input from the businesses we serve as to what types of programs or events they want to see us do. Our executive director, event coordinator, and marketing coordinator create an event calendar at the beginning of the year based on the goals they are trying to achieve for this year, whether that be attendance or targeting a specific demographic to visit the area. The event coordinator and marketing directors are responsible for designing and implementing over 30 events each year. Our marketing coordinator is also responsible for putting on a merchant workshop once a month to teach merchants about certain marketing tactics. This includes types of social media marketing and building a strong brand identity.
So there is A LOT to learn from this incredibly talented team! |
