Job Description
The Events Intern assists in the organization, coordination, and marketing of events in Downtown Bryan. The position is also required to assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. social media, email marketing, and website upkeep), help distribute and deliver marketing materials to Downtown Bryan businesses, support the DBA staff in daily administrative tasks, and coordinate all event volunteers.
Requirements & Qualifications
This position requires someone who is creative, has strong oral and written communications skills, has the ability to effectively multi-task, and be able to work in a fast-paced work environment. Additional skills included base level knowledge of media relations and a proficiency in Google applications.
Benefits & Opportunities
The DBA puts on over 30 events a year, so there are many opportunities for hands-on experience. The staff is relatively small, so you are allowed to do a variety of tasks, whether that be speaking to vendors or drafting budget reports. The DBA also offers interns the opportunity to see what it is like to work for a non-profit and a city because the City of Bryan is responsible for nearly 90% of our funding. Lastly, the DBA's office is a fun work environment located on the 3rd & 4th floors of the Queen Theatre in Downtown Bryan.

Achievements
- Over the course of my internship, I helped the DBA coordinate and execute over 15 events.
- After 200 hours of my unpaid internship, I had been hired as the organization's part-time graphic designer and events assistant. The position paid $12/hour. - I have been given the chance to sharpen my graphic design skills and build a portfolio. Some examples of my work for the DBA and Queen Theatre are to the right. |
